Paintings

Al Shebani’s paintings are explorations into a world of abstract color and texture, unhindered by convention. Her keen interest in abstraction has led to fascinating experiments with dimensionality and textures so that the two-dimensional canvas supports three-dimensional layers. She also shows her technical strength with figurative elements like horses that seem to gallop out from the surface of the painting.

On the one hand, she has been known to use a soft palette in warm and cool shades to create gradients that intersect and punctuate each other like ripples of water. On the other hand, she has mastered the paint enough to produce vibrant works that are explosive in both color and line, with the paint serving as a dynamic element moving the eye across the canvas.
